Yes, we love road trips! Well, sort of :-)
It's a great way to get from point A to B but with a growing toddler, we have to get creative! Last year we drove to South Carolina and although Miranda was younger then, it was not as easy as we thought. So driving to Michigan this year was a little scary but I must say, Miranda did AMAZING!! She had one issue on the ride home. Basically, an hour from home (after driving 9), she woke up and scared herself b/c it was dark out and her nose was stuffed. She was screaming so loud, we pulled over and got her to calm down. We ended up in a Sonic parking lot and let her walk around for a little bit. However, she did not want to get back in. So Mike pretended to "call Elmo" while getting the portable DVD (AKA - our savior!) ready. Elmo came on the screen and Mike said "I called Elmo and he's ready to help you get home - are you ready?" She went back into the car very easily and we got home in less then an hour. In total it took about 11-12 hours to drive to Michigan and slightly less to drive home, but we stopped every hour 1/2 to 2 hours for breaks, so all in all it wasn't to bad.
Michigan was a great trip! Miranda met her Great Grandma for the first time!! It was so exciting. Even more exciting, is that Mike's grandma was able to be with her kids, grand kids, and great kinds at one time! It was very cool! We saw family we don't get to see and had a wonderful time!
