So I have not been on my blog for a some time, but I have good reason...I had my daughter!! Yes, Miranda Rose was born on August 27, 2010 at 7:58am weighing 6lbs and 9oz 19 inches long. She's just amazing!! She's so tiny and I can't believe she's mine!
Last Thursday, Mike and I went to Italian Affair down by Rowan b/c it's where Mike took me for our first date :-) It was so romantic to be back to the place it all started (and Rowan of course!)
Friday morning, I woke up at 4:30am to get ready. I did my hair, make-up and felt ready to have a baby!! Let me tell you, the hair and MU lasted for about an hour before my tears started! Haha! I got into my room and Mike and I were greeted by our families. It was emotional for me b/c it was the last time Miranda would be in my belly, and I was about to be a mom. It was a very surreal experience.
The doctor and anesthesiologist came into my room, and next thing I know, we are walking to the OR. They placed me on a table and gave me my spinal. All of a sudden, my body went numb. I continued to get emotional b/c now I was scared, and numb. Mike was not allowed in yet, so it was just me and the docs. The laid me down, put my arms on a table, and gave me more drugs through IV. After that, things go blurry. I heard the docs says, "Hi dad" to Mike, but I could not see him. All of a sudden I looked over and saw a guy coming close, wearing scrubs, and then I saw his eyes. It was Mike, my babe, my love, and I then felt calm.
I started to get the chills, and get nauseous as well. The docs were doing their thing, and although I was very uncomfortable, the feeling went away when I heard a cry. It was my baby girl!! She was born shortly after they started surgery, and she was just perfect! She had the most wonderful cry! I kept saying how much I love her, and then they brought her to me. My first words to my daughter were: "Happy Birthday." Mike went to her and got to see them get her cleaned up and ready to go to recovery. He then went to tell our families about Miranda's birth. I remained in the OR for the docs to finish the procedure of the c-section.
Next thing I know, I am in recovery. I am being wheeled over to my hubbs and new daughter. The nurses immediately put her to me to begin feeding. Talk about surreal! I now have a daughter and I am her sole food source. Just amazing!
We remained in recovery for about an hour, and then were wheeled to our room for the next few days.
Thank you to everyone who was able to visit, call, text, facebook posts and more! We are home now and adjusting to life as parents. It's just amazing and minus the lack of sleep, we are enjoying every minute of our sweet pea, Miranda Rose :-)
