Making the Most of An Awful Situation

In the wake of Sandy, we lost power for about 4 days....not bad considering some are still without 10 days later! Its been a crazy few days....

The first day we figured we'll make the most of our time, and Mike built the table we bought Miranda for her birthday. She LOVES it!!

At night, it was really dark, so we read stories by flashlight

On day 3, we cuddled in the "big bed" to watch Cinderella on DVD and eat cookies :-)

We then got to cold and went to my mom's house for the night. Luckily our neighbor called us to let us know power came back. We then became a hotel for friends and family. People without power were able to come over and get clean, sleep, eat, etc

Miranda and I went to donate a bunch of bags to our local fire dept who was delivering the items to a shore town that needed them. We dropped off 6 bags filled with toys, clothes, baby items, food, cleaning items and more. Miranda was soo excited to donate. She said the word over and over. When we got there, the place was packed with so many generous donations. I told Miranda she did a Mitzvah. She was so proud and smiling the whole time. It was a really nice moment.

May those affected so horribly by this awful hurricane be looked after and watched over. Our thoughts and prayers are with them today and always.
