Miranda's Baby Naming

What an important day for my little sweetness and it was beyond perfect! Miranda was surrounded by family and it was just wonderful! We dressed her in a special dress from Grandma Betty and she looked adorable! Unfortunately, she pooped through her tights and bottom during the service! Haha :-)

The service was beautiful! The Rabbi was wonderful, and grandparents, aunts & uncles got to each say certain parts of the service. At the end, everyone was invited up to the Bima. Mike, Miranda & I were wrapped in my Dad's Bar Mitzvah Tallis. Everyone was invited to hold the tallis around us. If you could not touch the actual cloth, you touched a person in front of you who touched the fabric. Then we sung "Simintov & Mazel Tov"! It was beautiful!

I also gave a speech about Miranda's 4 special names (Two are her Hebrew names and two are her American names). Here is the speech I gave. I hope Miranda will look back at this speech and always know how special her names are and how special she is. She represents so many people and is surrounded by so much love:

Miranda is a very lucky girl as she has four very special names. We are here today as she is given her Hebrew name, Hannah Eloria.
These two names come from two very special women. The name ‘Hannah’ is Hebrew for Anne. Anne Hirsch was my paternal grandmother. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandma. We were extremely close and I will be delighted to share stories of with Miranda about her great-grandma. I’m also going to share with Miranda, Grandma Anne’s special recipe for ‘Luncheon and Cheese.’ Grandma passed away two years ago and although we lost a very dear woman, her name will live on with Miranda.

Miranda’s Hebrew middle name is Eloria. The name Eloria is for Mike’s maternal grandmother, Eleanor. The ‘EL’ in Eloria stands for ‘G-d of’ and the name Eloria stands for ‘G-d of Light.’ Mike and his grandma were very close and he always shares stories of when she would babysit him and John. Mike already said he’ll cut Miranda’s sandwiches into 4 quarters the way his grandma did. He is also looking forward to playing many games of Scrabble with Miranda, as he played with his grandma. Mike’s love for both his grandma and papa will be shared with Miranda.

Miranda is very lucky to be named ‘Hannah Eloria’ in honor of these two special women.

Miranda is also honored to be named after two other special grandparents for her American name.
The ‘M’ in Miranda is for my paternal grandfather Martin, my Zayda. Grandma and Zayda were married for over 50 years. They would drive up from Florida to Co-Op City in the Bronx, to pick Josh and I up and drive back down to Delray Beach, Florida, to their home in Las Verdes. I have many memories of staying at their house, and Josh, Dad, and I speak of these memories with such joy. Zayda taught me my favorite game, Rumikub. I have fond memories of playing Rumikub with Zayda, Grandma, Dad and Josh. Zayda built my dollhouse when I was five years old and I am so excited for when Miranda will be old enough to use it.

Miranda’s middle name is Rose, who is my maternal grandma. Grandma Rose was married to my Grandpa Abraham, both of whom were Holocaust survivors. Even though Grandma Rose passed when I was two years old, her strength and courage are always with me and will be with Miranda. My mom shares stories of her that always make me feel like I knew her. During Rosh Hashanah, my Aunt Faye always makes Grandma Rose’s special ‘chocolate roll cake.’ Having this cake during dessert leads to more memories being shared around the table. When my mom and I see a white butterfly, we know Grandma Rose is watching over us.

As you can see, Miranda is a very lucky girl surrounded by so much love.
Thank you all for sharing in this special day with us for our daughter, Miranda Rose, Hannah Eloria.

2 Months!!!

My little sweet pea is now two months old! I know they say time flies faster when you get older, but this is insane! I feel like I was just preggers, and now I have this sweet bundle of joy who smiles at me! Yes, REAL SMILES!! She recognizes both Mike and I b/c when we walk over to her she stops crying, or coos, or smiles! :-) I love this kid soooo much!!!
She got her shots at Dr. T's and did so well with them! Dr. T is very happy with her growth. She's now 9lbs, 12oz and 21 3/4 long! She's almost in double digits :-) It's funny b/c you can tell she's longer b/c her legs hang lower when we hold her. Her head is also larger, and again, the doc was very happy with all growth aspects. She does have the dry skin still, so we have some new creams to use on her. As it gets colder, her skin will get drier, so we have to get her ready now.
I'm so looking forward to this weekend of Halloween fun! Our little lady bug is ready for her 1st Halloween and so is mommy & daddy! :-) You know I'll be posting pix soon :-)

8 Weeks & Growing Everyday! :-)

Tomorrow morning, Miranda Rose will be 8 weeks old! Where did this past 8 weeks go? She's almost 2 months!! We will be getting her stats at the doc next week, but here is a quick run down from the mommy board:
- Miranda is smiling (real smiles!!)
- Miranda is starting to sleep about 5-7 hours a night (hopefully that's not a fluke!)
- Miranda eats 3 1/2 to 4oz at each feeding
- Miranda swats at animals above her on her tummy time mat - The baby acne has cleared up - yes Miranda had the baby acne, but her beautiful sweet skin is coming back, clear as ever :-)
- As stated in previous post, Miranda loves dance party and Golden Girls theme song!

Enough talking, let's get to the pictures!! :-)
Miranda and her baby leg warmers :-) Sleeping in Mommy & Daddy's bed (well posing for the picture! haha) :-)

My baby at 6 weeks old :-)

Miranda goes to the Pumpkin Patch!

Well, we got her in her a cute outfit, and took her to a field of pumpkins...We left within 10 minutes! Haha! Hopefully next year will be better, but she was none to pleased with us that we sat her in a bunch of pumpkins! She cried the whole time, yet we still managed to get some fun pix. It will be fun next year to see how much she has grown and changed (and hopefully won't be crying!) :-)

Dance Party!!

My daughter LOVES dance music! I guess b/c the music I played for her in the womb was more pop music, than classical. Plus the music has a deep base as well and that can remind her of a heartbeat. She will be crying, so Mike created a CD of dance music. Chris Brown's 'Forever' plays, and her crying just stops! It's hysterical! Mike makes our floor a dance floor and Miranda loves it!!!
She'll also fall asleep to 'Say Hey' by Michael Franti and 'If We Ever Meet Again' by Katy Perry & Timbaland.

***Side note - Miranda also loves the Golden Girls theme song! :-) She will stop crying when I sing it to her!

A quick video of my baby girl and her lovely parents (hehe) :-)

More Useful Baby Items:-)

So to continue my post from the other day, I have more useful items for baby (and parents!)

1. The Diaper Genie -
This is a fabulous invention! It holds so many diapers, and hides any yucky smell! It has a good design so it actually looks like furniture. It's easy to change the bag too. Could not live without this!

2. Sleep Sheep -
Miranda likes this a lot, as it has 4 different sounds to choose from. Her favorite (and mine too) is the one called 'stream.' It's very peaceful, and she'll usually fall asleep when she hears these sounds. They last for 30 or 45 minutes (depending on your choosing).

More to come! :-)

Family Visit!

I'm so happy that my family from Florida was able to come up and meet Miranda!(Jen & Sara - Although you moved, you'll always be Miami Chic!) It was so much fun to hang out with everyone! The NY crew came as well, and we had a fabulous time! We don't get to see eachother often, but when we do, it's like no time has passed at all. I miss you guys and can't wait to see you again!

Here are some pix of their visit -
