We arrived on Thursday July 1st and went to Ray's Hell Burger for lunch. This is the restaurant the Obama just ate at last week! The burgers were HUGE! and yummy!
We decided to get our sight seeing on and headed over the Arlington National Cemetery to start our journey. It was very close to our hotel, and we had time before we went to the baseball game. It was very interesting to see where the Kennedy's are, as well as the tomb of the unknown soldier. In fact, we saw the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier as well. It was very moving.

After, we got our baseball gear on, and walked 2 blocks to the Metro from our hotel and saw the Mets vs. Nationals. It was a very nice stadium, and our seats were first tier first row! It was a nice night. Unfortunately, the Mets did not win, however, we still had a good time.

We slept in Friday, and then headed to the Zoo. It was a very nice Zoo, and the panda's were amazing!! They were my favorite!

A mommy Ape and a Baby Ape :-)

The Panda was so cute!

When we got back, we got ready to go out to a nice dinner at Rosemary's Thyme Bistro in DuPont Circle. We felt like we were pro's at the Metro already! Let me tell you, the food was DELICIOUS!!! I even tried a new type of dessert called Kunefe, and it was quite yummy!

Saturday we slept in again b/c we were exhausted from the walking the day before. We woke up to a new week though - 31 weeks!!!!
Our first stop for the day was Ford's Theater, and they have a cool museum to walk through about Lincoln's last day, along with his family life. A park ranger tells a story of exactly how his assassination happened while we sit in the theater where it occurred. Then you walk across the street to the actual house where Lincoln died. It was very informative.
Due to the holiday, the Smithsonian's were open later, so we hopped back on the metro and got off to see the American History museum. Fonzie's jacket, Dorothy's ruby slippers, Michelle Obama's inaugural dress, Julia Child's kitchen, the trains, plane, and automobiles! It was a very cool museum!

Sunday (July 4th) was our day to see all the National Monuments and my cousin Sara! Sara lives in DC and was able to meet us on Sunday for Brunch. We went to a great place called Bread & Chocolate! (I mean, the name says it all!)
Sara & I -

It was great to see Sara, and when we parted, Mike and I headed to the Lincoln Memorial, followed by Korean war, WWII, and Vietnam. We ended at the White House, which is actually smaller in person then you'd expect, but still amazingly cool to see!

We went to the Iwo Jima Memorial to see the fire works over all the National Monuments. What a sight to see! We decided that going to the Mall would be to crowded, and although Iwo Jima was crowded, it was perfect!! I mean seriously gorgeous! To see the fireworks over the Washington Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Capitol building was an amazing sight to see!

All in all , our DC Babymoon was FABULOUS! Unfortunately it was very hot, and as you can tell, we did a TON of walking. My shins were really hurting, and I definitely needed to stop along the way. However, I was a trooper and we saw all the sights we wanted to see :-) I love just spending time with my hubby, and considering this was our last vaca, just the two of us, it was important we got to see what we wanted to, and have fun while doing it! I only wish now, we could go away again! Haha! :-)
And to end this (long!) post with my 31 week belly picture -

so glad you guys had a good time, you deserve it!!
